Located in the Saint Croix River Valley, 90 minutes north of Saint Paul/ Minneapolis, the Quirky Quilt Shop is on an idyllic hilltop with pastoral views.  Twin Cities quilters, vacationers and our beloved local community all enjoy our rural location. Just ask us about all the things you can do along the way!

Kathy already did edge to edge longarm quilting as a business and was unimpressed by many online fabric purchases. Then 2 local fabric shops closed their doors.  Enough!  Our area is bursting with quilters of all kinds and we deserved a quilt store!  Kathy had been selling custom curated fabric bundles and kits at pop-up shops, and craft fairs and farmer’s markets.  While extensive remodeling was being done on the future store, she temporarily operated a compact but charming quilt shop from the yellow shed next to her house.  The new store opened in November of 2022, and the Quirky Quilt Shop came to life!  

Now the store sells current fabrics from many of the top quality quilting fabric companies.  Quilt kits are available, and Kathy’s custom curated kits even include backing so you are spared having to look for a backing fabric once your quilt top is complete.  New fabrics, notions, patterns and books come in regularly. And, you can drop off your quilt for edge to edge quilting! 

The Quirky Quilt Shop is a welcoming and safe space for all artists at heart.  Coffee and tea are always available, as is free advice if you’d like.  Classes and free mini classes are available.  Bus tours and retreats are welcome!

I oversee all longarm quilting jobs and insure quality work.  No detail escapes me!  After a quilt is complete, I enjoy inspecting the quilting studio in search of a scrap of fabric for my personal stash. You may find me in the store as well, especially in warm weather!  I love to be told how beautiful I am, because, after all, it’s true!

Great service, fast shipping, and very reasonable prices for products of such quality!I love stopping in the shop and touring the beautiful shade garden behind the store. Sometimes there are cookies in the store. I find dog beds stuffed with batting scraps to be plushy and perfect for afternoon naps.

Product quality is top-notch. Shipping is fast. Customer service is AMAZING. I honestly can’t recommend them enough.  Dried mealworms available to go with your herbal tea.  Let’s quack about quilting! We especially enjoy watching the quilting machine through the basement windows.

Pick Up The Pieces and Make Something Beautiful has been my motto for 25 years. Believe me, it applies to so much of life! We all have a story to tell about a time to pick up the pieces.  I Love Quilting!  I am constantly picking up colorful pieces and creating something new and beautiful, even if it’s just from scraps.  

I believe art saves lives  and gives us a way to tell our stories and find peace.  These days I do more quilting than other art forms that I have worked at with a passion.  I like the history and legacy that go into our quilts.  Now I live in the country instead of the Twin Cities.  Quirky Quilt Shop is the culmination of a longing to be creative, serve my community, and be independent.  I’m as surprised as anyone that the shop is, in fact, a dream come true!  Color and pattern make me so happy!  I want to share that with you and help you experience the joys of creating!
